The controversy surrounding a National Youth Service Corps member, Ushie Uguamaye who made headlines over the weekend after condemning the government over the high cost of living in Nigeria, and calling Tinubu a terrible President, has taken center stage in public discourse.

On Monday, Temitope Ajayi, a senior special assistant to the President on media and publicity, defended his comments on the corper’s outburst.

Ajayi berated the corper In a Facebook post, saying that as a youth corps member, Uguamaye had no right to criticize Tinubu, he added that citizens could abuse their President or any public official, but that the corper violated her oath and code of conduct and as such deserved the capital punishment under NYSC.

His comments elicited a wave of criticism with many social media users accusing him of suggesting the death penalty for the corper.

In a statement issued on Monday, Ajayi dismissed the criticism, saying his comments were twisted.

Activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, escorted the Youth Corps member to the offices of the National Youth Service Corps in Eti-Osa LGI, where she was scheduled to appear before the LGI, however the LGI official reportedly failed to show up.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Son, Seyi Tinubu’s visit to Northern States, to hand out food items during this month of Ramadan, has elicited a wave of criticism.

Many Northerners have accused Seyi of trying to gain public support for his father’s re-election campaign by exploiting the fasting period for political gain.

Some voiced their dissatisfaction, on social media questioning the rationale of giving handouts to northerners, while the Southwest continued to thrive under his father’s administration.

Seyi Tinubu was in Yobe State over the weekend where he defended his father, calling him the greatest President Nigeria has ever had and the only leader who has created an economy that benefits everyone.

Seyi Tinubu also defended his Ramadan distribution and his Youth initiative programme.

The political crisis rocking Rivers State has taken a new dimension after the House of Assembly members initiated impeachment proceedings against the state Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his Deputy Prof. Ngozi Odu.

The impeachment proceedings are coming days after Fubara, was denied access to the temporary legislative quarters, where the Martins Amaewhule-led lawmakers sit.

On Monday, The lawmakers served both officials with a notice of alleged gross misconduct, sparking widespread criticism.

Meanwhile, a video of Fubara’s supporters singing his praise following the impeachment proceeding notice is making rounds on social media.

In Ogun State, the Chairman of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, on Monday alleged that his cement factory in Itori was demolished twice during the tenure of former governor Ibikunle Amosun, forcing his company to abandon the investment.

Dangote made the revelation during a courtesy visit to Governor Dapo Abiodun at the government house.

Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun has named two students who graduated with a perfect 5.0 GPA from UNILAG as the state’s Education Ambassadors and awarded them N10 million naira each in recognition of their achievements.

The two students, Samuel Badekale and Haroun Adebakin were received at the government house in Abeokuta by the state governor, Dapo Abiodun who praised their excellence, emphasizing that education is a pathway to success.

He urged them to inspire younger students through mentorship programs and assured them of continued government support.

In Kenya, the President of the African Development Bank, Akinwumi Adesina, has received the country’s highest national honor ‘the Chief of the Order of the Golden Heart’.

The ceremony took place on Monday at the State House in Nairobi, where President William Ruto recognized Adesina’s decade-long contributions, including his work with the Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa and the AfDB.
