Tinubu: Peace the Hallmark of Development, Kaduna Rising Again
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has commended the government and people of Kaduna State for transforming the state from a security flashpoint into a model of peace and development, describing the progress as a testament to visionary leadership and people-oriented governance.
Speaking during the inauguration of various development projects across the state, President Tinubu expressed satisfaction with the peaceful atmosphere and the government’s commitment to empowering the youth and building critical infrastructure.
“I think I am a lucky president. I am overwhelmed by the warm reception of the government and the people of Kaduna State,” Tinubu said. “I am particularly impressed with the peaceful atmosphere prevailing in this state. This is sharply in contrast with the tense and toxic atmosphere when I visited in 2022. To get to Birnin Gwari Local Government then, we almost had to move an entire battalion. Today, I have it on good authority that you can move to Birnin Gwari at midnight without fear of attack. Peace is the hallmark of development.”
The President praised Governor Uba Sani for steering Kaduna towards progress, saying: “Thank you, Governor, for the good job you are doing. Kaduna is rising again and we will work with you in every aspect of your developmental agenda. We will do everything to achieve the vision of progress and prosperity.”
He highlighted the importance of projects such as the Light Rail initiative and newly commissioned skill acquisition centres as models for national replication. “We are focussing on that. We are going to do it and we will do it together. The projects I have just mentioned are well thought out. What you have been doing is laudable for this country,” he stated.
Calling on other state governors to emulate Kaduna’s approach, Tinubu said: “Skills development, which we jointly inspected and commissioned today, is an example that subnationals should follow. Whatever we need to do together, we will do it. We will soon launch a comprehensive agenda on that, as well as make a bold agenda for our food sovereignty.”
The President took the opportunity to reflect on his longstanding ties to Kaduna State and its people, noting their contribution to national development. “I share a very long-standing and meaningful connection throughout my journey in life, in politics, business, and the pursuit of democracy and fundamental rights. I have had the privilege of working alongside many distinguished sons and daughters of Kaduna,” he said.
He also used the occasion to publicly correct a previous omission in his June 12 Democracy Day speech. “Let me use this opportunity to correct an omission. During my last broadcast, I failed to mention Arc. Dangiwa. Today, let me correct that by honouring him with a national recognition – Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic (CFR). And I thank Shehu Sani, who is also a comrade, for all you’ve done for democracy in this country. May God bless you.”
President Tinubu thanked the political, traditional and religious leaders in attendance, as well as the citizens of Kaduna, for their hospitality and unwavering commitment to Nigeria’s unity and stability. “Thank you for your love, commitment, and sincerity in supporting the development of this country. I am pleased to be back here in Kaduna State,” he said.
In a warm tribute, he said: “Senator Uba Sani, the great people of Kaduna love you. That love extends to our commitment to democracy, justice, and the dignity of life. You are a good leader and I am very happy to work with you.”
The President closed his speech with a note of gratitude and hope: “Thanks to all of you. The time is running. I have to get back to work. Next time, I will try to have more time to stay the night in Kaduna State. May God bless you all. Bless Nigeria. Keep our men and women safe at the front,” he concluded.
