President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed profound sorrow over the passing of elder statesman, celebrated business titan, and philanthropist, Alhaji Aminu Alhassan Dantata, who died in the early hours of Saturday at 94.

In a statement by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President described Dantata’s passing as “a monumental national loss,” extolling the late nonagenarian’s towering legacy in both business and public service.

“Alhaji Dantata will be remembered for his industry, diligence, steadfastness, and great commitment to national unity through his many business ventures and philanthropic activities that touched countless lives of Nigerians,” Tinubu said.

Widely regarded as one of Nigeria’s most accomplished businessmen, Dantata’s entrepreneurial journey spanned several decades and sectors, with a reputation for excellence, integrity, and vision.

He was also a former Commissioner for Planning and Development in the old Kano State, bringing his expertise and leadership to bear in public service.

Tinubu hailed Dantata’s philanthropic contributions, especially in education and healthcare, noting that his life of service to humanity left a profound impact on communities across the country.

The President also paid tribute to his personal relationship with the late elder statesman, recalling Dantata’s wise counsel and unwavering support as both “deeply encouraging and beneficial.”

Tinubu extended his condolences to the Dantata family, the government and people of Kano State, and all Nigerians who held the elder statesman in high esteem.

Dantata, a key figure in Northern Nigeria’s post-independence business evolution and a beacon of philanthropic service, is survived by family, numerous protégés, and a nation grateful for his service.
