Former President of the Senate, Senator David Mark, has expressed profound grief over the passing of elder statesman and business icon, Alhaji Aminu Alhassan Dantata, describing him as a rare breed whose legacy of service and philanthropy will remain evergreen.

In a condolence message issued by his Special Adviser, Paul Mumeh, to the government and people of Kano State, Senator Mark hailed Dantata’s lifelong dedication to Nigeria’s economic growth and social development, noting that he was not only a successful entrepreneur but a humanitarian who devoted his wealth to uplifting others.

“Alhaji Aminu Dantata was a symbol of humility, discipline, and patriotism. He lived a life of purpose and left an indelible mark on every sphere he touched—commerce, education, religion, and charity,” Mark stated.

He recalled Dantata’s distinguished lineage as the son of Alhaji Alhassan Dantata, one of West Africa’s most celebrated merchants. He commended him for expanding the family’s influence with vision, integrity, and dedication to national progress.

Mark further highlighted Dantata’s quiet but impactful philanthropy, particularly in the fields of education and healthcare, noting that his generosity has transformed countless lives across the country.

“His passing is a huge loss to the nation. But his values, achievements, and legacy will continue to guide and inspire us,” Mark said.

He offered prayers for the repose of Dantata’s soul and strength for his family and loved ones during this period of mourning.
