Alhassan Dantata Haemodialysis Centre
Despite being a successful businessman, the late Alhaji Aminu Dantata contributed immensely toward ensuring an effective and reliable health sector. One such intervention is the establishment of the Alhassan Dantata Haemodialysis Centre, a facility located at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, equipped with 22 dialysis machines.
The centre was donated by Alhaji Aminu Alhassan Dantata, who also contributed significantly to the hospital’s pediatric wing and other projects. The Kidney Care and Transplant Foundation Trust, which was partly funded by Dantata, has also supported dialysis centres in Kano and Jigawa states through donations of consumables.
He donated funds and a dialysis machine to increase the capacity of the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH) for dialysis patients. The foundation, with his seed grant and donations from other sources, provides quarterly donations of consumables and buildings, including a ward and an Intensive Care Unit complex to the hospital.
Specifically, he purchased a mammogram machine and sponsored consultants for training in renal transplantation. Furthermore, he insisted that the hospital should not charge too much for services related to his donations, ensuring they remain affordable for the public.
Donation of ward, ICU complex to Murtala Specialist Hospital
The philanthropist, also during his lifetime, donated a ward and an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) complex to Murtala Muhammed Specialist Hospital in Kano. This donation was part of his work aimed at improving healthcare facilities in the region. The ICU complex was a modern, fully equipped complex.
