President Bola Tinubu, Tuesday, flagged off construction of the second Niger Bridge road linking Delta and Anambra states.

The road designated as Phase 2B consisted of seven flyovers and bridges with a width of thirty-five to forty-six meters connecting Atani through Obosi, Nkpor, and terminate in Ogbunike Anambra State.

The President, who was represented by Anambra state governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, explained that the project upon completion would decongest traffic at Onitsha, as well as ease travelling through Anambra to Rivers, Delta, Abia, Imo, Enugu and Ebonyi states.

According to him, this would fast track socioeconomic development, among others to the people of Southeast and South-South geopolitical zones, and Nigerians generally.

The federal Minister for Works, Engr. Dave Umahi, who also attended the event, added that the road would have cameras and solar powered streetlights, while noting that thirty percent mobilisation has been approved and released to the contractors.

Earlier speaking, the Southern General Manager of CGC Nigeria Limited, Carlos Chen, who is handling the project, assured that it would be completed on time in line with international best practices.
