Timothy Simons earned some street cred with his kids for being in the Netflix hit show Nobody Wants This.

The actor, 46, spoke with PEOPLE at the season 6 premiere of The Handmaid's Tale in Hollywood, Calif. on Wednesday, April 2, and shared that his role on the recent romantic comedy starring Kristen Bell and Adam Brody impressed his 13-year-old twins.

"They really like Nobody Wants This," Simons shares with PEOPLE. "So that gave me a little bit of credibility, too. But I think mostly because they want to meet all the other actors in it."

Simons says he's planning to bring his twins to set while they film season 2, which will be a "big day for them."

"They want to meet everybody. They want to meet Justine [Lupe], Kristen [Bell], Adam [Brody]. They want to meet Jackie [Tohn]," he explains. "And I'm sort of like, 'Yeah guys, I'm on this show too, and I see you every day.' And they're like, 'We don't care. We don't care.'"

Simons shares his teenagers with his wife Annie Simons.

Back in January, Simons spoke about how he was cast in the second season of Percy Jackson and the Olympians in the recurring role of Tantalus, a newly appointed activities director at Camp Half-Blood. At the time, the actor said his kids were so excited he was joining the iconic franchise.

“They loved them,” the actor said of his kids’ relationship to the books series. “It’s very fun to know that I can do something my kids are into.”

The actor added that the young cast members of Percy Jackson “were really gracious” when he told them about his kids’ love of the book series.

“I brought up some books and the cast all signed the books,” said Simons, adding that his kids “were over the moon.”

“I don’t know how long those positive vibes are going to last,” joked the dad about his teenage kids. “There are a lot of emotions running around my house, and usually they’re directed at me.”

Although Simons is excited for his kids to see him in that role, he hasn't yet shown them the raunchy comedy Veep, where he plays foul-mouthed White House staffer Jonah Ryan.

“We haven’t shown them Veep yet for very obvious reasons,” Simons said. “But this was really fun for them ... to see something that they’re passionate about that I got to be in.”
