A video has resurfaced online showing the late former President Jerry John Rawlings breaking into a fierce warrior dance during an event to commemorate the December 31, revolution.

The late statesman was captured dancing with great vigour and charisma, to the delight of the audience.

President John Dramani who was present at the scene, was seen smiling as he watched the iconic statesman exhibit his dance moves.

The 1981 coup d’état, led by Jerry John Rawlings, overthrew the administration of President Hilla Limann.

It was motivated by Rawling's dissatisfaction with the management of the country under the Limann administration, as Ghana's economic situation, plagued by spiralling foreign debt and hyperinflation, continued to deteriorate without any real promised political change.

In 1992, Rawlings resigned from the military, founded the National Democratic Congress (NDC), and became the first president of the Fourth Republic.

Rawlings died on November 2020 at the age of 73 after a short illness. b
