Thomas Frank gives his first interview as new head coach of Tottenham Hotspur - Fan Banter
He expresses excitement about joining a promising football club with a talented squad and significant potential.
Frank also emphasise the importance of collaboration, highlighting productive discussions with key club figures (Daniel Levy, Vinai Venkatesham, and Johan Lange) about the club’s structure and their own vision for building the team.
They stress that success depends on alignment among leadership, staff, and players, describing it as an “unbreakable unit.”
While acknowledging the current positive atmosphere, they note that challenges lie ahead and express a commitment to working hard to create memorable moments for fans and achieve a successful season.
“I’ve only heard good stuff about all the people here, the training ground, the players. It’s a good squad. It’s an exciting, massive club with massive potential. So, it’s just super, super exciting.
“I had very good conversations and meetings with (Daniel Levy, Vinai Venkatesham, and Johan Lange) where we discussed everything in depth – details about the Club structure, processes – and of course I came with my views on things, how I saw it, my ideas, and the way I want to do things and how I try to build a team and a club.
“Of course, it’s not just me. I think it’s very important to say: yes, the Head Coach is an important person, but if I don’t have good people around me, it’s impossible. You can’t do anything alone, in my opinion.
“If you want to do something quick, you can go alone. If you want to do something big or achieve something big, you go together. So, it’s definitely about doing things together – me, the staff, the players.
“I think alignment is key – from top to bottom. Of course it starts from Daniel, Vinai, Johan, and me – and the more the four of us can be aligned, just like a unit, an unbreakable unit, the stronger we’ll be.
“There’ll be ups and downs – right now, it’s a fairytale. Everyone’s happy, the sun is shining, it’s fantastic.
“We haven’t played one game yet. Hopefully we’ll win a lot. We’ll work very hard every single day to make sure we create as many magic moments for the fans and put them together and at the end of the season we’ll have had a very good season.”
“Huge congratulations to the Club, to the team (for the Europa League triumph). Huge congratulations to Ange (Postecoglou) – I think Ange has done something special. He’ll forever be a legend in Tottenham,”
“It’s important to understand we all stand on the shoulders of others. I’m going in on the foundation Ange built, and his coaching staff, and I’m very humble about that. I’ll do my very best to continue the great work he put in.
“The feeling, the excitement, the joy and the happiness in the fans’ faces, the pictures—was ‘wow’. Hopefully, we can create more of those moments. That will be the ultimate dream: to do that and build on that.”
Tottenham’s Daniel Levy explains decision to sack Ange Postecoglou and appoint Thomas Frank
: Thomas Frank’s interview was class
– No cliché answers
– Authentic
– respected what Ange achieved and built
– Wasnt all about him, he talked about the importance of the collective
– Understood history of club and Fans
Class act 👏
: A fantastic first interview from Thomas Frank as the new Tottenham Hotspur Head Coach. He ticks all the boxes – great motivational speaker, plays attacking football, wants to create more special moments for the fans & wants to turn Spurs into “serial winners”! 🇩🇰🤍 #THFC #COYS
: 9 minutes of sharp, no-bullshit football chat. No promises of glory. No empty soundbites. Just a calm Dane talking about structure, identity, and balance like he’s assembling an IKEA midfield. Feels… adult – and I’m like a kid at Christmas. #COYS 🇩🇰
: Not sure I’m over Ange yet, feels like a step dad 😂 Speaks so well though, comes across as a deep thinker. I like him
: Not felt this excited for a new manager in a while. Everything we look for & need to untap that potential i think he has the ability to be & do. Excited already for the new season. #COYS #THFC #SPURS
: What a guy, comes across brilliantly🤩nice touch mentioning Ange aswell, classy
: I am genuinely excited after listening to his interview. Come on you spurs!
: Yeah like what he’s said. Still devastated about Ange and don’t think it was right but Frank has done wonders with Brentford and I think for this young crop of players it is a great appointment. Thinking like the prime poch days but hopefully a bit better
: I hated him when his Brentford team were chasing us down during Covid. However, I can’t help but like him now. Did a great job at Brentford, earned this opportunity, speaks well, interested to see how he gets on at Spurs.
: I have no reason to believe that Thomas is being anything other than completely sincere in his tribute to Ange, but it’s also politically super smart on his part to do so, knowing that a significant proportion of the fanbase consider the latter’s sacking to be unjustified.
: Frank is quickly becoming my favourite coach. The way he talks, the culture he sets and the philosophy he has working with players is superb. Brilliant, brilliant coach. Look forward to seeing what he does at Spurs!
: Thomas the Frank Engine 🚂🚂. All aboard..
: “If you don’t take risks, you are taking risks” what a quote
: A pretty impressive interview, spoke a lot of sense, seems very level headed, good times ahead methinks 💙💙
: He seems a nice chap, and the football is the only thing that will matter ultimately, but I miss Ange’s charisma. He really made me believe when he spoke
: Always comes across as a likeable character but seems to be a class act with a clear plan / vision. Good luck Thomas 🇩🇰 #thfc
