Published 1 week ago3 minute read

Joining us this week is , the Vanderpump Rules star who was unmasked as Bat on The Masked Singer Season 13. (Our interview begins at the mark in the video above.) The reality TV villain tells us about "facing her fears" to sing in front of America, belting out "Espresso," and writing her new memoir, My Good Side.

"Bats are creatures that I've always been a fan of," Shay says. "The fact that I got to become one for the world was so fun, but absolutely terrifying. When I got the call I was like, 'No, no, no. They're calling me for the wrong show. I do not want to sign up for this.' After speaking to my team and my family I was like, 'Why am I saying no? Because I'm afraid?'"

Shay was able to fool panelists , , , and into thinking she was one of the Real Housewives. "They were all incredible guesses," she thought after hearing the names , , and . "I was honored to be compared to some iconic women. That's awesome! You want to stump the judges. I felt like with the clues package, and the little hints I gave, and the banter after, I totally got them!"

As the luxurious winged diva, Shay sang "Espresso" by Sabrina Carpenter. Despite a solid vocal performance and compliments from the panel, Bat received the least amount of votes and was the first contestant eliminated from Group B. "I'm not trying to go for a Grammy," she said. "I'm not a trained vocalist. I'm well aware of that. I'm just trying to have fun and I don't care what people say anymore."

Next up for Shay is the release of her book titled My Good Side: A Memoir, due out July 22. "It covers so much," she reveals. "It goes through every stage of my life up until a few months ago. It's going to be a very current read. We talk about the ending of Vanderpump Rules, we spill some Vanderpump tea, we talk about both of my marriages, and things that I've never told anyone. It's my opportunity to take the narrative back into my control."

This week on Reality Derby, we also dive deep into the finale of The Traitors ("The Day of Reckoning Is Upon Us"), the second episode of Survivor 48 ("Humble Traits"), and chat with the first two eliminated teams from The Amazing Race Season 37.
