The Free People Beauty Products, According to a Beauty Editor | Who What Wear

Published 11 hours ago5 minute read

I can't help but love a well-curated beauty section, especially when it's from a retailer that isn't primarily focused on beauty. Think: less Sephora, more surprise gem in your favorite clothing store—like Free People. The place where you can buy witchy prairie dresses, boho-chic staples, and breezy basics doubles as a serious beauty gold mine. What started as a casual scroll for an outfit to wear to a desert weekend spiraled into a full-blown shopping-cart situation with serums, concealers, and fragrances galore.

Free People's beauty section is filled with tons of fan-favorite, editor-approved finds from brands like Youth to the People and Kosas, but there are also a ton of niche, indie brands that I've surprisingly never tried before. (It's kind of a big deal considering the hundreds of beauty products I test every year.)

Naturally, I had to put on my 'lil Sherlock cap and investigate. Amid the tried-and-true faves are kitschy-cute hairbrushes, pretty perfumes, holy-grail lip oils, and more. The next time you're shopping at Free People, spend some time in the beauty section! In the meantime, keep reading for my favorite beauty finds from Free People so you can get obsessed too.

Youth to the People Superfruit Gentle Exoliating Cleanser

Youth to the People

Superfruit Gentle Exfoliating Cleanser

I love Youth to the People's Kale + Spinach Superfood Face Cleanser, but this has become my new obsession. Formulated with AHAs, antioxidants, and vitamin C, this brightens and exfoliates while cleansing the skin.

Ursa Major Alpine Rich Cream

Ursa Major

Alpine Rich Cream

This whipped, buttery cream feels like cashmere and keeps your skin barrier bundled up. Plus, it's packed with skin-loving ingredients such as ultra-hydrating tremella mushroom, vitamin-rich cloudberry, soothing skullcap, and more.

Kosas Revealer Super Creamy + Brightening Concealer

Kosas

Revealer Super Creamy + Brightening Concealer

This is, hands down, one of my favorite concealers. It is creamy, covers, and never creases, but it also brightens the under-eyes thanks to caffeine and pink algae.

T3 Aire 360

The Aire 360 has been my go-to hot tool for the past few months. It gives my hair lift and curls and makes it smooth and shiny in just a few minutes. It's been a total game changer for my hair routine.

Act + Acre Clarifying Hard Water Shampoo for Scalp + Hair Build-Up

Act + Acre

Clarifying Hard Water Shampoo for Scalp + Hair Build-Up

If you've got scalp buildup and sad, dull strands, this shampoo will be your savior, especially if your tap water is total mineral mayhem like it is here in LA. (PS: Get a shower filter!)

Slick Hair Slick Stick

I can't live without a taming wand. This easy, travel-ready Slick Stick puts flyaways in their place with a simple swipe.

Jillian Dempsey Khôl Eyeliner

Jillian Dempsey

Khôl Eyeliner

Okay, this blue kohl eyeliner is calling me. I also appreciate a pencil liner that has a built-in smudger. It's so convenient for an electric-blue smoky eye!

Solar Eclipse Hand-Painted Wide Tooth Comb

Solar Eclipse

Hand-Painted Wide Tooth Comb

As a Frenchie mom, I have to add this comb to my cart. I love a practical hair tool with some character, and Solar Eclipse's entire line is filled with cute, unique combs and brushes. I need them all!

Free People Vegan Lip Oil

Free People Beauty

Vegan Lip Oil

Free People may carry a lot of top-notch beauty brands, but don't sleep on its in-house line! This lip oil comes in delicious flavors—Blackberry Punch, Watermelon Basil, and Vanilla Mint—and contains ingredients such as prickly pear, squalane, and jojoba-seed oil for absolute lip nourishment.

Vacation® Orange Gelée Spf 30 Spray Oil

Vacation

Orange Gelée SPF 30 Spray Oil

Orange Gelée, Vacation's nostalgic nod to an iconic vintage tanning gel (updated with SPF, of course), now comes in a spray-oil version! Talk about indulgence.

Phlur Body Mist Travel Size

Phlur

Body Mist Travel Size

I'm obsessed with Phlur's Heavy Cream! It's soft, sweet, and perfect for layering or wearing alone when you want a whipped cream and vanilla moment (with a touch of citrus).

Higherdose Red Light Face Mask

HigherDose

Red Light Face Mask

I live for a skincare-meets-sci-fi moment, and HigherDose's LED mask delivers. It uses red and near-infrared light to boost collagen, reduce inflammation, and make your skin look like you actually slept for eight hours.

Tenoverten Rose Cuticle Oil

Tenoverten

Rose Cuticle Oil

My nail artist always gives me the side-eye about my cuticles—I always forget to put on cuticle oil! But this one by Tenoverten has been helping me in that department. It's made with calming rose-flower oil and hydrating jojoba, argan, pomegranate, sweet almond, hemp seed, and vitamin E.

Beauty Bestie Product Prolongers

Beauty Bestie Product Prolongers

Everybody needs these skincare-saving spoons! There is still so much product in some of my bottles, and this helps me get it out without having to resort to open-heart product surgery.
