Released in theatres on 7th February, this action thriller based on a true story is written and directed by Chandoo Mondeti. If you are wondering where to watch it on OTT, then, Thandel will be streaming on Netflix after its theatrical run concludes.

Other than Naga and Sai, the film also stars Prakash Belawadi, Divya Pillai, Rao Ramesh, Karunakaran, Babloo Prithiveeraj, Kalpa Latha, Kalyani Natarajan, Parvateesam, Mahesh Achanta and Kishore Raju Vasishta among others. Thandel was produced by Bunny Vasu under Geetha Arts and presented by Allu Aravind. Shamdat Sainudeen has cinematographed this DSP musical under the editing of Naveen Nooli.

Thandel is based on true events from 2018. It tells the story of fishermen from Srikakulam who accidentally ended up in Pakistani waters during a regular fishing trip. They usually fish near Gujarat, but on one trip, they were captured by Pakistan's forces. The movie shows their tough journey, spending a year and a half in prison, and how they eventually get out. The story focuses on their struggles and explores themes of love, revenge, bravery, and patriotism.

Thandel's review

Telugu360 rated Thandel 2.75 out of 5 and a part of their review read, “Thandel is a serious film that incorporates patriotic elements in its second half, soulful songs in the first half. The script blends real-life events like Article 370 and India-Pakistan tensions into the storyline. Both Sai Pallavi and Chay Akkineni deliver good performances. The slow and unengaging first hour stands as a major drawback. You can try it for its positive aspects.”
