Gurgaon: The maximum temperature of Gurgaon on Monday rose slightly by 0.6 notch from the previous day as it was recorded at 30.6 degrees Celsius, which is 1.7 degrees higher than normal. The minimum temperature was recorded at 17.7 degrees Celsius, 4.5 degrees higher than the seasonal average and 4.3 degrees higher than the previous day.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), residents can expect even warmer days ahead as both maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to rise by two degrees Celsius eventually. By 12 March, maximum temperature may reach 33 degrees Celsius and minimum temperatures may touch 20 degrees.
In addition, Gurgaon may witness a partly cloudy sky with a possibility of thunderstorms on March 14 due to a fresh western disturbance. "The region is likely to witness a gradual rise in temperature and by the next two days, the maximum temperature is likely to be around 33 degrees Celsius. A western disturbance is likely to approach the region on March 14 and 15, but there is no chance of rain for the majority part of Haryana," an IMD official said.
Meanwhile, the city's air quality saw an improvement, but AQI stayed at a ‘poor' reading of 204 on Monday against the previous day's ‘poor' 225. According to CPCB guidelines, ‘poor' AQI can cause breathing difficulties during prolonged exposure, whilst ‘moderate' AQI can trigger respiratory discomfort in individuals with asthma or cardiopulmonary ailments. An AQI between 0 and 50 is considered ‘good', 51 and 100 ‘satisfactory', 101 and 200 ‘moderate', 201 and 300 ‘poor', 301 and 400 ‘very poor', and 401 and 500 ‘severe'.
