Gurgaon sees highest maximum temperature this season, drizzle likely over next two days | Gurgaon News - The Times of India
Gurgaon: At 29.4 degrees Celsius, just half a notch shy of surpassing the 30-degree mark, the city witnessed the peak maximum temperature of this season on Wednesday. It exceeded the normal by 4.4 degrees and the previous day's maximum of 25.3 degrees Celsius by 4 notches. The highest temperature recorded this month was 28.1 degrees Celsius on Feb 11.
The minimum temperature was 12.5 degrees Celsius, 2.9 degrees lower than Tuesday's 15.4 degrees and nearly two notches above the normal for this time of the season. According to the India Meteorological Department, the minimum temperature is expected to rise to 16 degrees Celsius within 48 hours.
"Gurgaon is likely to witness cloudy sky with one or two spells of rain or thundershowers on Thursday and Friday," said an IMD official.
The Met department also issued a ‘yellow' alert for the next three days for some isolated areas of Haryana, anticipating thunderstorms, lightning, hailstorms, and gusty winds of 30-40 kmph.
The humidity levels oscillated between 76% and 91% on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the city's air quality improved slightly but remained 'poor'. The air quality index (AQI) was recorded at 212. It was 250 on Tuesday.
The Air Quality Early Warning System indicates a potential improvement on Friday. An AQI between zero and 50 is considered 'good', 51 and 100 'satisfactory', 101 and 200 'moderate', 201 and 300 'poor', 301 and 400 'very poor', and 401 and 500 'severe'.
