Director Michael Gracey, known for popular films such as The Greatest Showman and Better Man is currently helming to direct Disney’s live action adaptation of Tangled. Tangled is a well known Disney animated film starring Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi for its retelling of Repunzel. Recently, Black Widow and Midsommar’s star Florence Pugh was on board to play Repunzel with other stars Demi Moore, Jennifer Lopez, and Agatha Hahh were rumored to play Mother Gothel previously voiced by Donna Murphy in the original animated picture.

Recently, renowned pop star Taylor Swift has been rumored to take Pugh’s place as Repunzel in the upcoming film. This rumor is traced back to X account, @MyTimeToShineHello from news scoops. At first glance, this X post appears to be media gossip. For those who accused this account of baiting people, the user replied that the same source concerning Taylor Swift also informed her about the accurate Uma Thurman recent casting in Dexter: Resurrection and Matthias Schoenaert’s casting in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. This means that although nothing is confirmed yet, Disney has its radar upon Swift to seriously consider her for the Tangled character.

Swift was originally considered by the Marvel Cinematic Universe, owned by Disney, to play Ladypool in Deadpool & Wolverine before being replaced by Blake Lively.

As Tangled is widely considered one of Disney’s most beloved princesses, the original animated film was a box office hit grossing just shy of $600 million. The live action film currently has no known release date, although actor Ron Perlman, who voiced in the original movie, is open to returning in the live action remake.
