Strathcarron Volunteer Befrienders Recognised for their Role

Volunteer befrienders from Strathcarron Hospice have been recognised for their volunteering services by CVS Falkirk and District as part of Volunteers Week.

The ‘Compassionate Neighbours’, who are from the Forth Valley, Cumbernauld and Kilsyth areas, assist the Hospice’s Compassionate Communities team by connecting with individuals in their local communities in a number of different ways.

This includes popping in for a cuppa and a chat, telephone befriending, or supporting someone to get out and about for a short while.

The whole team was nominated for the Health and Wellbeing Award at a special ceremony at the Macdonald Inchyra Hotel.

Each Compassionate Neighbour volunteer received a certificate to mark their fantastic work.

Gillian Gunn, Community Development Worker with the Strathcarron Hospice Compassionate Communities team, said:

“All our volunteers who do roles across our Hospice community do an amazing job and we could not function without them. Thank you for all you do.”

Strathcarron’s Compassionate Communities Team supports and empowers Compassionate Neighbour volunteers in communities across Forth Valley and North Lanarkshire.
