The heartbreaking accident involved a lorry transporting maize from Sirare towards Migori Town.
The overloaded lorry lost control and hit two motorbikes carrying passengers on Sunday night, January 19.
"One of the motorbikes was carrying two female teachers and a pedestrian. Tragically, a total of five people have been confirmed dead at the scene. The lorry driver was rushed to the hospital in an unconscious state," a Facebook post read.
The teachers who perished in the tragic incident were Dorcas Nyamohanga and her colleague Lucy Chakala.
