NDC Taskforce Members Accuse Party of Neglect

Accra, Ghana - March 14, 2024 - A wave of discontent has surfaced within the Ashanti Region's National Democratic Congress (NDC) security taskforce, as members voice allegations of neglect against James Agbey, an associate of NDC figure Larry Gbelvo-Lartey. The taskforce members claim that despite their significant contributions to the party's activities, they have been abandoned and left without the support they were promised.
The accusations were made public during a press conference held on March 13, 2025, where disgruntled members of the taskforce aired their grievances. They assert that they played a pivotal role in mobilizing support and carrying out various assignments for the NDC. However, after fulfilling their duties, they allege that they have been neglected and overlooked.
A video capturing the sentiments of the taskforce members has been circulating on social media, showing them chanting, "You can’t use us and dump us!" The video underscores the depth of their frustration and disappointment over their treatment.
Alhaji Tanko, who led the press conference, directly accused James Agbey of deceiving the taskforce members. Tanko stated that Agbey had made assurances of support and recognition for their efforts, but those promises have not been honored. "We put our lives on the line for the party, yet when it’s time for recognition and support, we are left behind. This is not the unity and fairness we fought for," Alhaji Tanko lamented.
These accusations emerge at a sensitive time for the NDC, as internal tensions are reportedly on the rise ahead of the 2024 general elections. The situation highlights the importance of maintaining unity and addressing the concerns of grassroots supporters who contribute to the party's success. Some members are now calling on the NDC leadership to intervene and ensure that those who work diligently for the party are not sidelined or forgotten.
As of now, James Agbey has not issued a public response to the allegations. The NDC party leadership has also remained silent on the matter, leaving the taskforce members' grievances unaddressed. The situation continues to unfold, and it remains to be seen how the party will respond to these serious accusations.
