Siaya: Orphaned Form 3 Student Struggles to Stay in School After Grandmother's Stroke
Siaya County – The story of Angeline Anyango Otieno, a Ng’iya Girls’ High School student, is a painful reminder of how fragile the future can be for a determined girl with no one left to turn to.

Angeline, a bright 17-year-old Form Three student from Gem Rabuor, is a total orphan who has struggled through her secondary school journey.
Kisumu journalist Kelly Ken Rodgers told that her journey began through the support of a generous well-wisher who had committed to paying her fees since Form One.
But earlier this year, tragedy struck once again after her sponsor lost her NGO job, leaving Angeline’s education uncertain.
With no parents and no sponsor, Angeline turned to her last pillar of hope: her ageing grandmother.
However, when she returned home for half-term, she was met with yet another devastating blow.
Her grandmother had suffered a severe stroke and was left bedridden, unable to walk or speak. Now, the family has no money for treatment, let alone school fees.
“I came home to find her helpless. She can’t move, she can’t talk, and I don’t know what to do,” said Angeline, holding back tears.
As her classmates continue with their studies, Angeline remains stuck at home, watching her dream of finishing high school slip further from her reach.
Her outstanding balance for Term Two stands at KSh 31,466, and she fears being permanently locked out of school if help doesn’t come soon.

Her appeal is simple: a chance to go back to school and rewrite her story.
“No contribution is too small,” reads the appeal message. “Let’s come together and help Angeline complete her education and secure a brighter future.”
