Seven Nigerians shortlisted for Caine Prize 25th anniversary award - TheCable Lifestyle

on Wednesday, the organisers announced a pause in the regular prize cycle and introduced the ‘Best of Caine Award’ to mark the prize’s 25th anniversary.

The special edition features only previous winners, wherein three judges will determine the most outstanding short story to have received the award in the past 25 years.

The previous Nigerian winners vying for the ‘Best of Caine Award’ include Irenosen Okojie for ‘Grace Jones’, Lesley Nneka Arimah for ‘Skinned’ , Tope Folarin for ‘Miracle’ and EC Osundu for ‘Waiting’.

Also shortlisted are Segun Afolabi for ‘Monday Morning’, Rotimi Babatunde for ‘Bombay’s Republic’ and Helon Habila for ‘Love Poems’.

The organisers also disclosed plans to host events across Africa and the diaspora while celebrating its alumni and their contributions to the literary canon.

They said the judging panel for this year will be announced soon, with the regular prize will resume in 2026.
