Seniors with Dementia Pedal into Summer with the Help of Local Volunteers
Seniors with dementia rode into summer when a group of pedaling volunteers treated them to rickshaw rides. The residents from Highline Place, an Anthem Memory Care community in Littleton, cycled through Hudson Gardens with the help of Cycling without Age.
The volunteers pedaled the senior passengers in three-wheeled bikes known as a tri-shaws. The group aims to help elders get back on their bicycles, increase mobility and provide happy outings.
“This outing provided a therapeutic opportunity for residents living with dementia to enjoy the calming sounds and sensations of nature,” said Jodi Cornman, senior community relations director for Highline Place. “Experiences like these can spark joyful memories, reduce anxiety and deepen emotional connections with loved ones.”
Highline Place is located at 6767 S. Broadway, Littleton.
