Samsung Announces July 9 Galaxy Unpacked Event

Samsung has officially announced July 9, 2025, as the date for its next Galaxy Unpacked event, set to kick off at 10 am ET / 7 am PT / 3 pm BST. The event, returning to Brooklyn, New York, will be live-streamed, with expectations high for the unveiling of new foldable smartphones and wearables. The official invitation and teaser videos, particularly the phrase 'Ultra Unfolds', strongly hint at the debut of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7, along with new Galaxy Watch models. Speculation is also rife about the introduction of an 'Ultra' designation for one or both of the new foldables, possibly even a novel tri-folding device.
Customers eager to be among the first to experience these new devices can already pre-reserve 'the latest Galaxy device' and secure a $50 credit. This promotion, typical for Samsung, allows users to register their interest without committing to a purchase, making it a valuable opportunity for those eyeing a new Flip or Fold device.
The Galaxy Z Fold 7 is anticipated to be a significant upgrade, with rumors suggesting it will be even thinner when unfolded and feature a larger 8-inch internal screen. A notable enhancement expected is a 200-megapixel main camera sensor, mirroring the Galaxy S25 Ultra, which promises to elevate its photography and videography capabilities. Furthermore, the Fold 7 is expected to benefit from new silicon for improved speed, the integration of Samsung One UI 8, and an array of new AI features, including Galaxy AI and functionalities derived from Samsung’s partnership with Google.
For the Galaxy Z Flip 7, while major camera changes are not expected (likely retaining the 50-megapixel main and 12-megapixel ultrawide cameras), the device is rumored to feature a slightly larger 6.8-inch internal display. The most exciting change for the Flip 7 might be its external screen, potentially expanding to a full 4 inches, a significant increase from the Flip 6’s 3.5-inch cover display. This larger cover display, combined with One UI 8 and enhanced AI features, could dramatically improve its usability and appeal.
Beyond foldables, Samsung’s mid-year Unpacked events often feature wearables. While the Galaxy Ring 2 or Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 are not anticipated this time, new Galaxy Watch models are expected. The Galaxy Watch 8 could receive screen upgrades and new health features, and there's a possibility of the return of the Galaxy Watch Classic, distinguished by its movable bezel, following a leaked prototype. This Unpacked event marks Samsung's third Galaxy Unpacked of 2025, promising an array of innovative devices for consumers.
