Revolut's new Paris HQ comes with a €1bn investment into the region including the creation of ~200 jobs. The fintech already has 300 employees in the operating out of a WeWork, while also employing staff remotely.

Revolut's existing French hires include a handful of ex-bankers in senior roles. Michel Bine, formerly global head of FIC trading at SocGen, is based in Paris as Revolut's group treasurer and chief investment officer. Louis de los Rios, formerly a team lead in BNP Paribas' internal audit division, is currently the European bank head of capital and interest rate risk book management.

Both men currently work remotely and are under no pressure to appear in the office more often. Revolut CEO Nik Storonsky previously said that Revolut "care[s] more about what you do than where you do it," and that office attendance is optional. BNP was previously thought to be one of the best banks for working at home, but now asks staff to spend 50% of their time in the office and tracks how often they swipe in. SocGen asks staff to come into the office three days per week.

More French bank alumni may join Revolut soon. There are 18 roles open in its Paris office, five of which are in its burgeoning private banking division. One of the five openings mandates a bilingual English and French speaker. The rest of Revolut's current openings in its Paris office are in sales.
