Restaurants: Trishna, London, one of London's top Indian restaurants with a great wine list
Website: https://www.trishnalondon.com/
Had a brilliant lunch at Trishna today. It’s one of the restaurants that form the JKS group, including Gymkhana, The Brigadiers and The Ambassadors Club, all of which are excellent, and all of which have quite a different feel.
Trishna, in Blandford Street, has a classy, light, informal dining room split into two main sections, and coupled with the effortless and attentive service, this is a relaxed but high-end experience. The food is quite remarkable. Dishes are visually beautiful, sensitively put together with pronounced spicy flavour but no heaviness.
We were three and opted for the set lunch menu at £50 for three courses each. This is a good move: the courses are all quite substantial, and come with three options at each point. So we ordered everything and shared, and suddenly this became a 9 course tasting menu. There is no shortage of food here when you do this.

The wine list here is excellent. It’s not cheap, with nothing much under £50, but it’s well chosen, with a lot of thought to the sorts of wines that might work with the rather challenging flavours of high-end Indian cuisine. In the end we chose the Escribana Palomino 2022 from Willy Perez (£90), and this was perfect. This new-style unfortified Palomino from the special terroir of Jerez has plenty of flavour, but no flavour elements that might clash with the food.
I highly recommend Trishna, which has a Michelin star, next time you are in London. [If you can, do lunch rather than dinner and you will save a lot, and you’ll still get a pretty full experience of the menu.]
