Kete-krachi (O/R), May 21, GNA- Some residents of the Oti Region have expressed their appreciation to President John Dramani Mahama and his administration for the recent appreciation of the Cedi against other foreign currencies especially the the US dollar.

The appreciation, they said, had brought relief to businesses and improved economic stability.

Currently, the US dollar is trading at approximately GHS 12.11

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), Mr. Tawia Asare, a businessman in Kete-Krachi, reflected on how the previous rise in the dollar rate had negatively impacted businesses in the area.

“The high cost of the dollar was affecting the economy and making it difficult for businesses to thrive. But we thank Almighty God, President Mahama, and the NDC government for the dollar’s appreciation. At least, we can now operate our businesses more smoothly,” he stated.

Another resident, Mr. Yakubu Mohammed, commended President Mahama for the recent drop in fuel prices.

“The cost of fuel has gone down by about 18 per cent, which is great news. It’s a remarkable achievement in just a few months of governance. The economy is beginning to stabilize, and citizens are feeling some relief. The ‘Reset Agenda’ promised by the Mahama-led administration is taking shape,” he said.

Other residents also lauded President Mahama for what they described as the smooth management of the economy and encouraged him and his team to continue working hard to reduce the economic hardships.
