Reps urge states to domesticate anti-graft laws

The House of Representatives Committee on Financial Crimes yesterday urged state governments across the country to domesticate anti-corruption laws.
The Chairman of the Committee, Ginger Onwusibe, spoke during the opening session of a three-day workshop on anti-corruption, fiscal responsibility, and good governance for Edo State and local government officials.
The workshop, which was organised by the House Committee on Financial Crimes in collaboration with Barclays Global Consult and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), was held at the National Institute of Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS) in Abuja.
Onwusibe, who was represented by the Clerk to the House Committee on Financial Crimes, Austin Adesoro, noted that despite the existence of anti-corruption agencies and laws, public sector corruption, money laundering, and financial fraud persist.
He urged state governments to domesticate anti-corruption laws and cultivate ethical reorientation among citizens and public servants.
