The House of Representatives Committee on Public Petitions has summoned the Executive Secretary (ES), Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA), Richard Dauda and the Director, FCT Development Control Department, Galadima Muktar, to appear before it for allegedly giving permission to develop a property which violated the Abuja building code.
Chairman of the Committee, Mike Etaba, gave the directive at its investigative hearing on Wednesday.
The summon was based on an investigation on a petition to the House by a citizen, Samuel Ajayi, who called for a swift action to halt the development of the said property.
According to the petitioner, allowing the building, located at Guzape Cadastral Zone, to go on will rubbish all the planning that went into the making of the FCT.
In his ruling, the committee’s chairman, Mike Etaba, directed that both the Executive Secretary of the FCDA and the Director of Development Control should appear to address the concerns raised in the petition.
“At this point, it is a complaint until we establish the facts therein. Every Nigerian’s voice must be heard while all public officers must be made accountable. We shall ensure fair hearing for all the parties,” he promised.
