Mikel Arteta’s side have been linked with a number of strikers over the last few weeks. Now, there’s some bad news regarding one of them.
Dusan Vlahovic has been on Arsenal’s radar for a few years now.
The Gunners wanted to sign the Serbian when he was still at Fiorentina. He was Arteta’s top target at the time, but Juventus snapped him up for around £66 million then (Sky Sports).
TBR Football exclusively revealed earlier in January that Vlahovic is on Arsenal’s list along with the likes of Alexander Isak, Benjamin Sesko, Victor Osimhen and Viktor Gyokeres.
Football Transfers claim that Arsenal were in talks with Juventus over a deal for the 24-year-old, but those conversations have now ‘broken down’.
It has been claimed that Juve made it clear to Arsenal during negotiations that ‘they would only sell Vlahovic for a cash sum’ this month.
The report adds that ‘any chance of Vlahovic ending up at the Emirates now seems unlikely’ in the final 11 days of the winter window.
However, as TBR Football revealed at the start of the month, Juventus remain open to selling Vlahovic before the window shuts on February 3rd.
Vlahovic is a very good player, and he would’ve been an upgrade on what Arsenal have in their attack at this moment in time.
However, that move doesn’t look like it will happen now.
Football Transfers reveal that the attacker Arsenal are ‘most likely’ to sign is Wolves star Matheus Cunha, who is having a fine season.
Reports have claimed that Cunha thinks a move to Arsenal is possible this month and is refusing to sign a new contract as a result.
But, there is a big gap in valuation between the two clubs. The maximum amount Arsenal are willing to pay for Cunha is £45 million.
Wolves, however, are demanding over £70 million.
