JOHANNESBURG - International Zebra Day is aimed at promoting the conservation of Africa’s iconic black-and-white striped animal.

While their striking stripes mesmerise global nature lovers and Africans alike, zebras are not immune to various threats.

In South Africa, conservation efforts that helped the Cape Mountain zebra population recover now serve as an example for other species on the brink.

eNCA's Zanele Buthelezi visited the Bisley Nature Reserve in Pietermaritzburg and filed this report.
