Prime Minister Modi pays homage to Dr Kwame Nkrumah

Accra, July 3, GNA – Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday paid homage to Ghana’s founding President Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah at his resting place, the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park in Accra.

The Prime Minister, who was accompanied by Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang is in Ghana for a two-day visit at the invitation of President John Dramani Mahama.

The mausoleum, designed by Don Arthur, houses the mortal remains of Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah and his wife Fathia Nkrumah.

Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah, the champion of African liberation struggle and Pan-Africanism and a global icon continues to inspire world leaders.

Prime Minister Modi described Dr Kwame Nkrumah as a visionary statesman whose thoughts and ideals guided several people.

He said Dr Kwame Nkrumah devoted himself towards the well-being of people of Ghana.

Prime Minister Modi laid a wreath at the tomb of Dr Kwame Nkrumah.

He also observed a moment of silence in honour of Dr Kwame Nkrumah’s lasting contributions to freedom, unity, and social justice.

The tribute paid by the Prime Minister reflects India’s deep respect for Ghana’s rich history and reaffirms the strong bonds of friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
