Police rescue abducted Kebbi varsity student - Daily Trust

The Kebbi State Police Command has rescued Augustine Madubiya, a 400-level student of the Federal University, Birnin Kebbi, who was abducted by five armed men from his off-campus hostel in the Kalgo area on Tuesday.

Police Public Relations Officer, Nafiu Abubakar said the abductors fled and abandoned the student when they spotted a combined team of police officers and vigilante members mobilised for a rescue operation in the Dakingari forest.

Recall that during the abduction, a herder who attempted to intervene was killed, and another student managed to escape from the assailants at their Ungwar Jeji residence in Kalgo.

The police said the student was rescued unharmed and is receiving medical care. Upon full recovery, he will be reunited with his family.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Bello M. Sani, commended the bravery, resilience, and professionalism displayed by the Divisional Police Officer of Dakingari, his team and the vigilante group involved in the rescue mission.

Deputy governor of Kebbi State, Senator Umar Abubakar Tafida, along with CP Bello M. Sani, handed the rescued student over to the Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor Muhammad Zaiyan Umar, at the university council chambers.
