The National Police Service (NPS) has announced the arrest of three individuals connected to the heartbreaking death of 17-year-old Gaala Adan in Wajir County.

The young girl was reportedly killed after declining to marry a 55-year-old man—a case that has ignited widespread condemnation throughout the nation.

In a statement released on Saturday, March 29, the NPS confirmed that the 55-year-old man is among those taken into custody.

They also conveyed their condolences regarding the tragedy and called on Kenyan communities to abandon such harmful cultural traditions.
