Elvis Murakana Namenya, one of the lawmaker's sons, was announced dead on Tuesday, March 25.

The cause of the death was not disclosed immediately, but unverified reports hinted that he died in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of an unnamed hospital after being involved in a ghastly road crash.

Until his death, little was known about the deceased.

He was siblings with three others of the MP's children.

Political leaders came to stand with the bereaved in the tough moments.

“Dear Beatrice Elachi, it is with a heavy heart that I extend my deepest sympathies to you and your family on the tragic loss of your son, Elvis Murakana. As the MCA for Kileleshwa Ward, I join the people of Dagoretti North and beyond in mourning this profound loss. Losing a child is an unimaginable pain, and my thoughts are with you during this incredibly difficult time,” Kileleshwa MCA Robert Alai shared the sad news.

President William Ruto also condoled with the family.

The head of state, while sharing in the grief of the bereaved family, dedicated a Bible verse to console them in the trying moments.

"May God grant Mheshimiwa Beatrice Elachi and the family strength to bear with the loss of their dear son, Elvis Murakana. Be comforted by the word of the Lord in Psalm 147:3: “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. Rest In Peace, Elvis," the president tweeted.
"May God grant Hon. Beatrice Elachi (MP, Dagoretti North) and her family the fortitude and strength to overcome the pain of losing her son, Elvis Murakana Namenya. It is such a huge loss to Mheshimiwa. As a party, we stand with her during this difficult moment of mourning and grief," read a tweet from The ODM Party, on whose ticket Elachi was elected to the National Assembly.

In the recent past, a host of politicians' families have been hit by death tragedies.

At least three families buried their kin after death in different circumstances.

On March 1, then Baringo senator William Cheptumo was laid to rest at his native home.

Cheptumo died on February 15 at The Nairobi Hospital, where he had been undergoing treatment after a bout of undisclosed illness.

On February 17, then Malava MP Malulu Injendi died while on treatment at the Aga Khan Hospital, Nairobi.

The lawmaker, who was in his third term in the National Assembly since 2013, also breathed his last while in the ICU; he was laid to rest at his native home in Malava, Kakamega county, on March 4.

Recently, nominated senator Betty Montet lost her husband, retired Colonel James Gitahi, in a grisly road accident.
