The Ogun State Police Command has launched a manhunt for an unidentified woman following the mysterious death of Inspector Haruna Mohammed, an officer serving with the Ishashi Division of the Lagos State Police Command.
Mohammed was found dead in a hotel room at Anthony Uzum Estate, Oyeyemi Akute, Ogun State, after checking in with the unknown woman at around 1:00 a.m. on Saturday. Hours later, the woman fled, and the officer’s lifeless body was discovered.
The hotel manager reportedly found the room door unlocked at 8:52 a.m. and, upon entry, discovered Mohammed’s body. Reports indicate that the woman had visited the hotel reception around 6:00 a.m. to request a bottle of tap water before disappearing.
Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident, stating that the police have classified the death as “unnatural” and are actively searching for the woman.

“At first, only a uniform was found in his bag, making it difficult to identify him as a police officer. No identification card was found. However, further investigation confirmed that he was an inspector attached to the Ishashi Division of the Lagos Command,” Odutola said.
The police have contacted the Division’s leadership and identified the officer’s body. Investigations are ongoing.
This incident comes weeks after a similar case in Abuja, where Inspector Lawal Ibrahim of the Kwali Division was found dead in a hotel room after allegedly engaging in a sexual encounter. In that case, the woman involved was arrested, but authorities have yet to disclose further details.
The Ogun State Police Command has urged anyone with information on the missing woman to come forward as investigations continue.
