The Abia State Police Command has said it is aware of a trending video on Facebook depicting some police officers manhandling a civilian along Lagos Street, Umuahia, the state capital.

In a statement on Friday, the Spokesperson for the command, DSP Maureen Chinaka, said the officers involved have been identified, and are currently under interrogation at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID).

She said the public will be updated after necessary administrative actions are taken against the erring officers.

“The Commissioner of Police, Abia State Command, CP Danladi Isa, strongly condemns this act of unprofessional misconduct and incivility toward members of the public. He reiterates that under his leadership, the command is committed to ensuring a professionally competent, Rule of law complaint, and people-friendly police force in line with the vision of the Inspector General of Police.

“The public is hereby advised to report any misconduct, unprofessional behavior, or incivility by officers of the command to the Complaint Response Unit via 09031593827, 09035401645,” she concluded
