The Commissioner of Police in Enugu State, Mr Mamman Giwa, has stressed the need for stronger partnership with the Army in tackling security challenges in the state.

Giwa made the call during a courtesy visit to the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 82 Division, Maj.-Gen. Oluyemi Olatoye, in Enugu on Friday.

Giwa said that the Police, Army and other stakeholders needed to strengthen the existing inter agency collaboration between them for maximum results in the area of security.

“The current complexity of contemporary security challenges necessitates enhanced cooperation among the police, the military, other security agencies, and the community at large,” he said.

In his response, the GOC, who is also the Commander of the Joint Task Force (JTF) South-East, ‘Operation Udo Ka’, stressed the importance of strategic and collaborative crime-fighting efforts among security agencies.

Olatoye underscored the need for practical integration of community members into the security framework.

“There is a need for community members in localities to assist us in the area of credible information and intelligence gathering for us to work proactively against criminality and violence,” he said.
