PM Modi's Upcoming Visits to Bihar and Haryana

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to be actively engaged in development initiatives across multiple states this April, with confirmed visits to both Bihar and Haryana. These visits, occurring around significant dates in the Indian calendar, underscore the government's focus on regional development and national unity.
Bihar Visit: Panchayati Raj Diwas
On April 24, 2025, Prime Minister Modi is expected to visit Bihar to participate in a 'Panchayati Raj Day' event. This announcement was made by Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh, who dismissed any political intentions behind the visit, emphasizing that the focus remains strictly on Panchayati Raj. A meeting was held at the state BJP headquarters in Patna, where leaders of the NDA coalition in Bihar gathered to coordinate preparations for the Prime Minister’s visit to Madhubani district. Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan also attended, interacting with local officials in Madhubani via video conference.
Rajiv Ranjan Singh, also known as Lalan Singh, highlighted the historical importance of the upcoming tour. He firmly refuted suggestions that the visit was a political maneuver to showcase NDA unity before the assembly elections. The NDA coalition in Bihar includes BJP, JD(U) led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Union Minister Chirag Paswan's Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), and several smaller allies.
Haryana Initiatives: Ambedkar Jayanti
Prior to his Bihar visit, on April 14, 2025, which coincides with the birth anniversary of Bhim Rao Ambedkar, Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate and lay the foundation for several development projects in Haryana. These projects span across aviation, power, and infrastructure sectors.
The key highlights of the Haryana visit include:
- Aviation: Flagging off a commercial flight from Hisar to Ayodhya and laying the foundation stone for the new terminal building at Hisar airport. The new terminal building, part of the Maharaja Agrasen airport, is a project worth over Rs 410 crore and will include a state-of-the-art passenger terminal, a cargo terminal, and an ATC building. Scheduled flights from Hisar to Ayodhya will operate twice weekly, with additional flights to Jammu, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, and Chandigarh operating three times a week.
- Power Infrastructure: Laying the foundation stone of an 800 MW modern thermal power unit of Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram Thermal Power Plant in Yamuna Nagar. This unit, costing around Rs 8,470 crore and spread across 233 acres, aims to significantly boost Haryana's energy self-sufficiency and provide uninterrupted power supply across the state.
- Bio-Energy: Laying the foundation stone of a compressed biogas plant in Mukarabpur, Yamuna Nagar. This plant, aligned with the 'Gobardhan' initiative, will have an annual production capacity of 2,600 metric tonnes and will aid in effective organic waste management while contributing to clean energy production and environmental conservation.
- Road Infrastructure: Inaugurating the 14.4 km Rewari Bypass project, worth around Rs 1,070 crore under the Bharatmala Pariyojana.
These projects in Haryana are designed to enhance air connectivity, boost power infrastructure, promote clean energy, and improve road connectivity, reflecting a comprehensive approach to regional development.
Conclusion
Prime Minister Modi’s scheduled visits to Bihar and Haryana demonstrate a commitment to regional development and infrastructure enhancement. By aligning these visits with significant cultural and historical dates, the government aims to reinforce national unity and commemorate important figures like Bhim Rao Ambedkar.
