PlayStation, Hideo Kojima's Next-Gen Physint Game 'Five or Six' Years Away | Push Square

Published 9 hours ago2 minute read

We are only a month away now from the next Hideo Kojima game releasing on PS5, but if you're more interested in what Kojima Productions has for the future, then you'll almost certainly need a PS6 to play it.

When discussing film projects with French outlet Le Film Français, Kojima provides an overview of when he might get to make a movie, as his video game projects will have him busy for the years to come. When mentioning the collaborative project he has in the works with PlayStation, he said Physint will "take me another five or six years".

With an estimate of at least 2030 for Physint's release, we're looking at a PS6 game rather than something designed for current-gen hardware. Kojima Productions also has in production with Xbox, a horror title being made alongside Get Out, Us, and Nope director Jordan Peele.

It should launch between Death Stranding 2 and Physint, and given Microsoft's move to multi-platform releases, there is now a reasonable chance it'll also come to PS5. Death Stranding 2 releases for PS5 on 26th June 2025.

As for Physint, it was announced as a "next-generation action espionage game", drawing strong comparisons to Metal Gear Solid. The project will go into production once Death Stranding 2 is out, and it's being billed as something that will "transcend the barriers" between video games and movies.

Are you happy to wait half a decade for Physint? Let us know in the comments below.

Liam Croft

Liam grew up with a PlayStation controller in his hands and a love for Metal Gear Solid. Nowadays, he's found playing the latest and greatest PS5 games as well as supporting Derby County. That last detail is his downfall.
