Through the Van Calebs Walking Stick Foundation, Dr Ansah donated essential food items, including bags of rice, bottles of oil, and other staples valued at thousands of cedis, to hundreds of residents severely affected by the floods.
Speaking to the media after the donation, Dr Ansah described the gesture as a collective duty to show compassion in times of crisis. "We all witnessed what happened last Sunday in a major town in Accra and how people have been massively affected, with reports of others being killed by the flood," he said.
"It is an unfortunate situation, and I extend condolences to all affected families. But as we reflect on the losses, I think we have to support each other. That is why I decided to donate these items to some members of the community who have lost virtually everything because of the floods."
The founder of the Van Calebs Walking Stick Foundation, Mr Van Calebs, commended Dr Ansah’s support and highlighted the urgency of the situation in Ashaley Botwe. He described the condition of residents as dire and called on corporate institutions and relevant stakeholders to lend a helping hand.
"It is a very sad situation we have here, and you can see how devastated most people are due to the fact that they have lost almost everything," Mr Calebs said. "But all hope is not lost, as we will continue to support flood victims in Ashaley Botwe area and we have plans of moving our support in other affected areas."
The donation comes at a critical time as authorities continue to assess the impact of the flooding and coordinate emergency response efforts in affected communities across the capital.
