Philanthropist Dr. Alvin Kwabena Ansah, popularly known as Draka PC, has donated items to flood victims in Ashaley Botwe, Greater Accra.

The donation, which included bags of rice, bottles of oil, and other foodstuffs worth thousands of cedis, benefited hundreds of residents.

This kind gesture by Dr. Ansah, through the Van Caleb’s Walking Stick Foundation, follows last Sunday’s devastating rains in the capital, which displaced many and killed four.

Speaking to the media on the sidelines of the donation, Dr. Ansah said extending a helping hand to those affected by the flood was a shared responsibility to demonstrate love for fellow citizens.

“We all witnessed what happened last Sunday in a major town in Accra and how people have been massively affected, with reports of others being killed by the flood.

“It is an unfortunate situation, and I extend condolences to all affected families. But as we reflect on the losses, I think we must support each other. “That is why I decided to donate these items to some members of the community who have lost virtually everything because of the floods,” he said.

Mr. Van Caleb, founder of the Van Caleb’s Walking Stick Foundation, lauded Dr. Ansah for coming to the aid of hundreds of people in the area affected by the floods.

He noted that many residents are in dire need of basic items to support their livelihoods and urged corporate institutions and other stakeholders to come to their rescue.

“It is a very sad situation we have here, and you can see how devastated most people are because they have lost almost everything.

“But all hope is not lost, as we will continue to support flood victims in the Ashaley Botwe area, and we have plans to extend our support to other affected areas,” he said.
