Pentatonix singer Scott Hoying's Grammy-nominated song has a sweet backstory.
On Sunday, Feb. 2, PEOPLE spoke to the musician, 33, on the 2025 Grammys red carpet about his meaningful track, "Rose Without the Thorns," which is nominated for best arrangement, instrumental or a cappella at the awards show.
Appearing alongside his husband Mark Manio, Hoying revealed he was "nervous" about the nomination.
"It's my first time having a solo original song that I wrote about [Mark] as an anniversary gift," he says. "To be nominated — as just Scott — is wild."
"It feels like our little baby!" says Manio, 33, of the track. "It's like our one-year anniversary of our little baby. So, we're so excited."

Hoying also opened up about his first memory of the Grammys.
"I tried to sneak into this venue for an awards show when I was in college, so it's just a wild progression of everything that came and everything that manifested in my life and our lives. And I feel really present this time, and I'm so happy to be here," says Hoying.
Hoying and Manio shared their July 2023 wedding exclusively with PEOPLE. The couple tied the knot on Friday in an intimate, star-studded black-tie ceremony at the Ritz-Carlton Bacara in Santa Barbara, California after six years of dating.
"I feel like all of our life experiences and choices, and ups and downs, have led us to each other and this is the moment where the people we love most get to see us truly make the leap," Hoying told PEOPLE. "I knew pretty early on that Mark was my dream man and I genuinely feel like the luckiest man on earth to get to marry him."

The pair said that in planning their wedding, they wanted a "timeless, unique experience," and felt drawn to Santa Barbara after previously celebrating Manio's birthday in the seaside locale.
"Mark and I both have a deep love for the beach and the ocean and some of our favorite, romantic, lifelong memories together are by the beach," said Hoying, who popped the question in the Bahamas in April 2022.
The Grammys are broadcasting live from Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on CBS or stream them live and on-demand on Paramount+.
