Otedola hails Dangote's handshake with Trump, says 'power meets wealth'
Nigerian billionaire businessman, Femi Otedola, has reacted to the viral moment between Aliko Dangote and former US President Donald Trump, describing it as a historic meeting of power and wealth.
Taking to his official X (formerly Twitter) account on Friday, Otedola shared a photo of the brief interaction
“The richest black man in the world shaking hands with the most powerful man in the world @realDonaldTrump @AlikoDangote,” he wrote as caption
The image, which has been widely circulated online, shows Dangote exchanging pleasantries with Trump during the American politician’s recent visit to Qatar.
The meeting took place on Wednesday during Trump’s stopover in Doha, where he met with the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and witnessed the signing of a record-breaking $96 billion aircraft deal between Qatar Airways and Boeing.
Dangote, Africa’s richest man and founder of Dangote Group, was among the key business figures present during the high-level gathering. Although details of his brief chat with Trump remain unknown, his presence alongside global industry leaders, including Elon Musk, has drawn major attention back home in Nigeria.
Otedola’s post has since gone viral, with many Nigerians praising Dangote’s consistent representation on the world stage and speculating about potential partnerships or strategic discussions that may have taken place behind closed doors.
Trump’s Qatar trip also made headlines after reports emerged that the Gulf country offered a $400 million Boeing 747-8 jet as a possible replacement for Air Force One.
While neither Dangote nor Trump has released an official statement about their interaction, Nigerian netizens are already calling it a “power handshake” between global influence and African enterprise.
