OpenAI Leads Business AI Adoption

According to the Ramp AI Index, OpenAI is currently leading in enterprise AI adoption. However, Chinese AI company Manus AI is rapidly catching up. The index tracks real corporate spending and indicates a significant surge in AI usage among businesses. Data is compiled monthly using transactions from Ramp’s corporate card and bill payment platform, offering a tangible measurement of AI adoption.
While foundational models continue to dominate, specialized AI tools are experiencing rapid growth. Turbopuffer, an internal data search engine utilizing vector search, is one such example, offering speed and precision for technical teams. Other fast-growing AI vendors include Jasper, providing AI-powered writing tools, Deepgram, a speech recognition platform, and Snowflake, whose Cortex suite integrates large language models into SQL workflows.
Larger companies, with annual revenues of at least $500 million, are adopting AI more quickly. Ramp’s data supports this trend, revealing that smaller, specialized AI vendors are also seeing impressive gains. New entrants are climbing into the top ranks for AI-related spending, marking a shift beyond the dominance of big foundational model providers. By new customer count, OpenAI, Cursor, Canva, LinkedIn, and GoDaddy lead, while Maxon Computer, JasperAI, and Tango.ai follow Manus AI in terms of percentage change in customer count.
A Naukri.com survey indicates that one in three tech professionals in India are undergoing formal AI training, underscoring the growing demand for AI-related skills. Ramp also suggests actual AI adoption may be higher than reported due to the use of free tools and personal accounts.
The global enterprise AI market was valued at $23.95 billion in 2024 and is expected to grow at a CAGR of 37.6% from 2025 to 2030. Despite restrictions on AI chip exports, China has become the second-largest producer of AI models. As of early 2024, 36% of the 1,328 large language models originated in China. The Chinese government and private investors have launched a new AI fund worth approximately $8.2 billion.
Manus AI, capable of executing complex multi-step workflows and accessing data via APIs, has achieved state-of-the-art performance across three difficulty levels. While the US leads in AI model development, China is rapidly closing the gap. The latest Artificial Intelligence Index Report signals a transformative shift in the global AI landscape, as China accelerates its capabilities and investments.
