Ogun govt shuts six companies over environmental breaches

Published 8 hours ago2 minute read

The Ogun State Government has sealed six industrial facilities across the state for various environmental violations, including pollution, unsafe working conditions, and defiance of government directives.

The affected companies are Winwin Electrical Limited, Isichei Farms Limited, Chafengei Nigeria Limited, Fortune Height Farms Limited, Loly B and DA Ventures Limited, and Adventus Nigeria Limited.

The action was confirmed in a statement issued Saturday by the Ogun State Environmental Protection Agency (OGEPA) via X (formerly Twitter). The agency stated that the move was part of efforts to uphold environmental standards and safeguard the state’s ecosystem.

Farouk Tunde, Special Adviser to the Governor on OGEPA and Chairman of the Ogun State Task Force on Environmental Compliance and Enforcement, said the companies were found to have breached environmental regulations, with some continuing operations despite earlier sanctions.

“Winwin Electrical Limited, Isichei Farms Limited, and Chafengei Nigeria Limited, located along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, were sealed for air pollution,” Tunde stated.

He noted that Fortune Height Farms Limited in Odogbolu Local Government Area was resealed after it was previously shut down for discharging untreated effluent into the environment and later resumed operations in defiance of a government seal.

Loly B and DA Ventures Limited, a grain cleaning company based in Ijebu-Ode, was also shut for violating a stop-work order previously issued by the agency.

“Adventus Nigeria Limited, whose tube processing factory is located along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, was sealed for exposing workers to environmental hazards and operating without Personal Protective Equipment (PPE),” the statement added.

Tunde further confirmed that Isichei Farms Limited, which produces poultry feed, was also among those sealed for flouting a stop-work directive.

He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to environmental enforcement, stating that all industries in the state must operate in compliance with environmental laws.
