Nungua Wharf Project key in assembly's medium term development plans - Krowor MCE

He said among the many needs of the fisher folks, the Assembly buys into the concerns of the fishers to make the area more conducive and enhance their operations.

“The Assembly is working closely with the MP though we’ve already captured that in out medium term development plan and so it makes it easy for the MP to champion the course at the highest level at cabinet to ensure that the wharf is constructed. They have expressed this concern over time and we do appreciate it. Today when you come here most of the big canoes prefer to go to Tema and we will not rest on it.”

Nii Afotey Quaye said this when he addressed community members during the performance of the 2025 ŋshɔbulemɔ traditional rites.

The annual ŋshɔbulemɔ is performed to pacify the sea gods to provide fish for the celebration of the annual kplejoo festival. During this rites, the Chief fisherman sends fishermen on a special fishing expedition on the Wednesday preceding the day of the rites.

These fishermen are expected to catch the snapper fish locally called ‘tsile’ which is used for the preparation of the traditional meal kpokpoi.  

Nii Afotey Quaye maintained that other concerns with premix fuel and outboard motors were all stated in the NDC’s manifesto prior to their elections however the government is working assiduously to address the,

“The fisher folks can attest to it that premix have started coming, however with the quantity, I am working with the Member of Parliament to ensure that they get more whereas in the area of outboard motors we’ll work closely with the government agencies and ministries to get the outboard motors to ply their trade.”

Speaking on behalf of the Member of Parliament for Krowor, Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, the Krowor Constituency NDC Chairman, Benjamin Kwame Danso, pledged the MP’s support in ensuring that the WHARF project is executed in earnest, aside addressing the educational needs of the people.

“Your request for the construction of a wharf at this landing beach is a priority development issue for the government and it is the government’s hope that before the end of this four-year term it will come to realisation.”

He reiterated the MP’s commitment to enhancing the quality of education in the area and entreated residents not to hesitate to call on the Assembly and the Office of the MP.
