NUJ loses former State Council chairman

The Jigawa State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has announced the demise of its past Chairman, Fahad Mallam-Madori, on Sunday night in his hometown, Mallam-Madori. 

The Chairman of the council, Isma’il Ibrahim, made the announcement in a statement, which he issued to newsmen in the wee hours of Monday.

He said the deceased would be buried at 9am on Monday at Ramin Buzuwa in Mallam-Madori Local Government Area of the state.

Until his death, Mallam-Madori served diligently as the Information Officer of Kaugama and Birniwa Local Government Areas under the Jigawa State Ministry of Information, Youths, Sports, and Culture

Ibrahim said that his commitment to the development of journalism and his exemplary service to the state would remain indelible in the hearts of his colleagues.

He added: “Comrade was not just a journalist but a passionate unionist, who stood firm for the values of truth, professionalism and unity among media practitioners in Jigawa state over the years.

“His tenure as Chairman of the NUJ Jigawa Council, was marked by integrity, selflessness, and dedication to the welfare of journalists.

“The NUJ Jigawa Council, however, extends its heartfelt condolences to his family, colleagues, and the entire media fraternity in the state. 

“We share in this great loss and pray that Almighty in His infinite mercy, grants him eternal rest and forgives his shortcomings.”

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) gathered that Mallam-Madori died at the age of 53, leaving behind a wife and four children.
