Mersin Buyuksehir Belediyesi Spor Mersin (BSL) re-signed experienced 34-year old Montenegrin-American ex-international 191cm guard Justin Cobbs (college: California, agency: Octagon Europe) for new season. Cobbs played there last season. In 32 BSL games he averaged 14.7ppg, 2.5rpg and 5.8apg. He helped them to make it to the Turkish Cup Semifinals. It was a very successful season in his career as he was voted to Eurobasket.com All-Turkish League Honorable Mention.
Cobbs was selected to Eurobasket.com All-Adriatic League Guard of the Year back in 2020 and 2021.
The previous (2023-24) season he played at Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana in Slovenian Liga Nova KBM. The team played in three different competitions (!!!) that year, and he was exposed to basketball on different levels. In 7 Slovenian Liga Nova KBM games he had 5.9ppg, 1.9rpg and 3.9apg in that year. He contributed to his team winning the league title and the Supercup. Cobbs also played 15 games in Eurocup where he recorded very impressive stats: 15.5ppg, 2.9rpg and 5.1apg (top 5) in that year. He also played 25 games in ABA League where he got 13.1ppg, 2.3rpg and 5.6apg (top 5) in that year.
Cobbs has tried to make it to the NBA and played in the NBA Pro Summer League in 2015. He was a member of Montenegrin Senior National Team between 2020 and 2022.
Cobbs is a very experienced player. And here thanks to pro basketball he experienced life in seven different countries playing on three different continents. He is familiar with European, Asian and of course North American leagues. Cobbs has played previously professionally also in Croatia, France (Gravelines Dunkerque and Le Mans), Germany (Bayern Muenchen and Skyliners), Japan (Alvark Tokyo), Latvia and Montenegro (Buducnost).
He graduated from University of California in 2014 and it will be his twelfth (!!!) season in pro basketball. Cobbs was voted to Eurobasket.com All-Adriatic League Guard of the Year back in 2020 and 2021. He played also for University of Minnesota for one year.
