Actress Ruth Kadiri Explains Private Marriage

Nollywood actress and producer Ruth Kadiri, aged 37, has decisively addressed the persistent claims that she has been intentionally hiding her husband, Mr. Ezerika, from public view. Having married in a private ceremony in 2019, Kadiri's approach to her marital life has often been characterized by sharing only glimpses of her husband, such as his hands or back, on social media. Through various interviews, including appearances on the Diary of a Naija Girl podcast and the Dear Ife series, she clarified that her preference is for privacy, not secrecy.

Kadiri vehemently dismissed the notion of actively concealing her spouse, asserting that her husband is very much a part of her public life. She explained that they attend church services and various events together, and he is often present at functions she organizes. The actress clarified that the reason he remains largely unknown to the general public is simply because he is not a celebrity and prefers to maintain a low profile. She highlighted that his social media activity primarily consists of religious content, further illustrating his disinterest in personal attention.

The decision to keep their marriage away from intense public scrutiny was a mutual one, made collaboratively with her husband. Kadiri described this choice, which included an intimate wedding with only 50 guests, as the "best decision" she has ever made. She credits this approach with helping her stay grounded, define her relationship on their own terms, and shield it from external influences, unnecessary scrutiny, and potential drama. This privacy also affords her husband the freedom to lead a normal life, unburdened by the pressures often associated with being a celebrity spouse.

Ruth Kadiri and her husband welcomed their first daughter, Reign Ezerika, in August 2019, followed by their second daughter in July 2022. Despite her significant presence in the entertainment industry, the Edo-born actress has consistently maintained a clear distinction between her professional and personal spheres. An alumna of the University of Lagos with a degree in Mass Communication and a diploma in Business Administration from Yaba College of Technology, Kadiri is widely recognized as one of Nollywood's most consistent and prolific female filmmakers. Her public explanations underscore that her choice is a deliberate effort to preserve the integrity and peace of her family life, rather than an attempt to hide its existence.
