NSW State of Origin team 2025

Injury concerns surround NSW Blues stars Payne Haas and Stephen Crichton as they enter camp for the NRL 2025 State of Origin series. Haas is dealing with a quad injury, while Crichton has a groin issue. Both players underwent assessments to determine their availability for the series opener. Bulldogs workhorse Max King has earned his Origin debut, and Mitchell Moses is set to partner with Nathan Cleary in the halves, breaking up Penrith's usual playmaking duo.

On the Queensland side, Selwyn Cobbo is also facing a potential wrist fracture, adding to the injury woes on both sides of the border. Campbell Graham of South Sydney is on standby for Crichton, who has struggled with training due to his groin injury. Tom Trbojevic's injuries have also played a role in Graham's selection as a backup.

Haas's potential absence would be a significant blow for the Blues, given his form and experience. Mitch Barnett has been named alongside him in the front row. King's selection to the Blues bench is a reward for his consistent performance and contributions to the Bulldogs. He is one of five changes from the team that won Origin III last year. King, grandson of Dragons winger Johnny, is also eligible to play for England.

Kurt Mann of the Bulldogs will also join the Queensland camp as Slater considers playing him off the bench. Moses was chosen over Jarome Luai to partner Cleary in the halves. Luai expressed disappointment but acknowledged he is in control of his selection. Moses's performance in the 2024 series win contributed to his selection, and he will line up on the left edge alongside Angus Crichton, Latrell Mitchell, and Brian To’o.

Cleary will remain the dominant on-ball halfback, with Moses playing a supporting role. Dylan Edwards and Isaah Yeo complete the Blues' attacking lineup, and Reece Robson retains his place at hooker. Yeo will captain the state for the first time. Zac Lomax has proven his fitness and will line up on the right wing outside Stephen Crichton and Liam Martin.

Spencer Leniu, King, and Hudson Young make up the NSW bench, along with Connor Watson. Terrell May is a notable absentee from the squad. Queensland will confirm their squad, with Rob Toia set to make his Origin debut. Murray Taulagi and Tom Gilbert have been ruled out due to injuries. Pat Carrigan is expected to be available despite a lip injury.
