Sokoto State Government Orders Early June Salary Payments for Sallah

Governor Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto State has directed the early payment of June salaries to all civil servants across the state, with payments scheduled to begin on Monday. This directive is intended to enable them to prepare for the forthcoming Eid-el-Kabir festival. The early payment applies to workers at the state and local government levels, including staffers of the Local Government Education Authority (LGEA) and pensioners.

The announcement was made in a statement issued on Saturday by the Governor’s Press Secretary, Abubakar Bawa. According to Bawa, this marks the third occasion the Aliyu administration has released salaries ahead of schedule to support workers during festive periods. Governor Aliyu, who is currently in Saudi Arabia for the Hajj pilgrimage, stated that the gesture aims to ease financial pressures on civil servants and allow them to purchase sacrificial animals and make adequate preparations for the Eid celebration.

In his message, Governor Aliyu reminded civil servants of their responsibilities, quoting the popular saying, "to whom much is given, much is expected." He elaborated, "Therefore, I expect you all to be committed and dedicated to your work."

The Governor highlighted several other initiatives undertaken by his administration to support the workforce. These measures include the consistent prompt payment of salaries, the restoration of cash allocations to Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), the distribution of Sallah gifts to workers, and the significant effort made in clearing outstanding gratuities and pensions for retirees.

Reinforcing his expectations, Governor Aliyu urged civil servants to reciprocate these supportive efforts by demonstrating punctuality, diligence, and responsibility at their respective places of work.

Furthermore, Governor Aliyu reiterated his administration’s unwavering commitment to revitalising the state’s civil service. He emphasized that a reformed and efficient civil service is crucial for enhancing good governance and ensuring effective service delivery to the people of Sokoto State. He also assured the citizens of the state of his government's continued dedication to delivering democratic dividends across all parts of the state.

In conclusion, the governor extended his advance wishes to all residents of Sokoto State for a peaceful and joyous Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
